SEBASTIAN COUNTY — At least two law enforcement officers were shot Wednesday (Aug. 10) in Sebastian County, according to the Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office.
One of the officers is a Sebastian County deputy and the other is the Hackett chief of police, Darrell Spells, the sheriff’s office said.
Both officers were taken to Sparks Hospital in Fort Smith. Neither officer’s condition is known at this time.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Highway 253 and Boone Road around 7:15 a.m. Drivers said Highway 253 is blocked in both the north and southbound directions.
The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Smith Police, Greenwood Police and Arkansas State Police are all responding to the shooting.
Sebastian County’s Philip Pevehouse said the shooting suspect is not being cooperative and is carrying a semi-automatic weapon.
Two helicopters have been deployed to search for the suspect, who is still on the loose in a wooded, rural area between Greenwood and Hackett.
Police have not released any details on the suspect at this time.
Police are asking everyone to avoid the area while the search continues.
