ORLANDO, Fla. — Hateful messages targeting the Jewish community were projected onto a building in Downtown Orlando.
It happened during New Year’s Eve celebrations at the top of a building on West Central Boulevard.
One message read, “Honk if you hate the Jews.”
Leaders across Central Florida’s Jewish community said it’s disappointing, but it’s not the first time it’s happened.
“We’ve seen it on banners in I-4. We’ve seen it on messages dropped in people’s yards. We keep hoping it’s going to stop,” said Keith Dvorchik, the CEO of Shalom Orlando, a merger of the Roth Family Jewish Community Center and Jewish Federation of Greater Orlando.
“I think the people who did it are hiding. They are cowards, or else they would come out in public,” said Rabbi Yosef Konikov from Chabad of South Orlando.
Orlando police said they are aware of the incident and they are investigating.
