A New York Police Department sergeant was convicted on Monday of raping his ex-girlfriend’s daughter, according to a statement from the Bronx district attorney’s office.
Vladimir Krull, 39 years old, was charged with sexually abusing the then 13-year-old girl on three different occasions between September 2013 and June 2014, according to the statement.
He was involved with the girl’s mother for two years.
A spokeswoman for the district attorney said the victim reported the incidents to her mother and the police in February 2015.
“The defendant horrifically abused the trust of this family and engaged in sexual acts with a child,” Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark said in a statement.
“He now faces prison time for his depravity and I hope his conviction reinforces the message that we do not stop until we get justice for the most vulnerable of victims.”
The New York Police Department said Mr. Krull had been suspended pending termination since then. He was fired on Monday, according to a spokeswoman for the Bronx district attorney.
Roger Blank, the attorney for Mr. Krull, said he disagreed but respected the jury’s verdict.
He said there was no forensic evidence supporting the conviction.
