A married NYPD officer has been charged by police after he allegedly engaged in phone sex with a 16-year-old girl and sent her a video of himself performing a sex act.
Suffolk County Police said that David P. Stagliano, a cop in the NYPD’s mounted unit, was suspended from the force after he sent a lewd cell phone video of himself to the Long Island girl.
Stagliano, 38, of Ronkonkoma was caught on Friday, after he sent the girl the 21-second cell phone video, the force said.
According to a criminal complaint he sent the video just after 8.40pm, which he followed up with a phone call, in which he was heard groaning and grunting.
The criminal complaint also said that during the call Stagliano was ‘inducing [the girl] to engage in sexual conduct.’
Stagliano, who describes himself as a married veteran on his Facebook profile, has been charged with disseminating indecent material to a minor and endangering the welfare of a minor.
He was arraigned on Saturday in Suffolk County, and was freed on a $5,000 bond. He is due to appear in court again on Thursday.
Stagliano was hailed a hero back in June when he used his steed, Pugsley, to help snare a robbery suspect in Midtown, the New York Daily News reports.
He was patrolling on Sixth Ave. near W. 47th St. on his moun when he and another officer were flagged down by a member of the public who had witnessed a fight near the Rockefeller train station.
Officers rushed to the station and found a bruised woman who said a man punched her in the face and stolen her purse.
Stagliano assisted the other officer in tracking down and detaining the suspect, cops said.
