A Utah police officer was killed Sunday morning while investigating a potential crime, police said.
The West Valley City police officer died around 3:30 a.m. while looking into an incident that was “criminal in nature,” public information officer Roxeanne Vainuku told the Daily News.
The investigation started in West Valley City, and the male officer was killed in nearby Taylorsville, Vainuku said.
The department has not detailed the incident, or said how the officer was killed. But Vainuku said the fatal attack was not “random.” The officer has not been identified.
Three suspects are custody, Vainuku said, and are now being questioned.
