After two week of doctors fighting for her life, one year-old Miriam Eidel Berlin, who had drowned in the bathtub in her Jerusalem home, passed away.
The one-year-three-month-old is the great-granddaughter of leader of Lithuanian Jewry, Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman, who resides in Bnei Brak, near Tel Aviv.
According to Hadrei Haredim, last Wednesday evening, the little girl drowned in the bathtub in her home on Eretz Hefetz Street in the Maalot Dafna neighborhood of Jerusalem.
Hatzalah medical volunteers and MDA emergency personnel worked to revive the toddler, who had lost consciousness. Since then, doctors have been fighting for her life.
On Thursday night, though, at around 8:00 p.m. Israel time, she passed away.
Her father is the son of Rabbi Shteinman’s son-in-law, Rabbi Ze’ev Berlin, who runs the yeshiva Gaon Yaakov. She was the third child of the family, and is survived by her brother and sister.
Jerusalem police report that negligence is still suspect. The parents have been questioned, and the investigation is ongoing.
