An American artists has been found dead in her Italian apartment, sparking a murder investigation.
Ashley Olsen, 35, who had been living in Florence, was found by her boyfriend on Saturday after he reportedly had not heard from her for a number of days.
Police would not comment on Italian news reports that Ms Olsen had been strangled until an autopsy can be performed, but they did confirm she had scratch marks and bruises on her neck.
Local media reports that Ms Olsen’s boyfriend, described as an Italian artist living in Florence, became worried when he did not hear from his partner and asked the apartment’s owner to open the door.

Newspaper La Repubblica Daily reports that the couple had had an argument and that he had not heard from her since.
He is believed to have gone to her apartment at about 1.30pm yesterday, but could get no answer when he rang the doorbell.
After contacting the owner, he was let in and discovered Ms Olsen’s body on her bed.
He called police but Ms Olsen, who is believed to have originally been from Florida, had reportedly been dead for hours.
Local TV reports said the body was found on a bed in the apartment in Florence’s historic center.
TV and local newspaper accounts said the body was identified by the victim’s father, who teaches at a Florence school.
Investigators have since seized the victim’s computer and the boyfriend along with a group of mostly American friends were taken in for questioning, according to La Repubblica Daily.
Ms Olsen studied art and had organized events connected to the art world, according to La Repubblica Daily.
On her social media pages, she shared many pictures of herself beside her beloved dog, Scout, showing the pair appearing to enjoy life in Florence.
