SYOSSET, N.Y. – A Syosset man is accused of illegally having weapons and a large number of magazines in his car when Nassau County police pulled him over Thursday morning.
Mark Vicars, 49, faces multiple weapon possession charges and will be arraigned Friday.
At a news conference Friday, federal officials said there is no threat of terrorism in this case. It is being handled by the Nassau County Police Department.
At 7:40 a.m. Thursday, Joint Terrorism Task Force and Transportation Security Administration officials stopped a 2014 Dodge Durango on Jericho Turnpike in Syosset.
According to the Nassau County Police Department, Vicars, of Syosset, pulled his vehicle over and showed police fraudulent credentials identifying him as a federal air marshal. According to federal officials, Vicar’s wife also thought he was an air marshal.
Police said he had a loaded .380 pistol and a knife, along with a loaded assault rifle in the back seat, and a ballistic body armor vest and a tactical vest containing three high-capacity magazines.
Officials searched the defendant’s residence, and said they recovered multiple weapons and about 8,300 rounds of ammunition.

1 Sig Sauer P229 40 caliber handgun
1 Glock 19 9MM handgun
1 Glock 26 9MM handgun
Approx. 8,300 rounds of assorted ammunition
