New details are emerging about Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s split. As Gossip Cop reported, the longtime couple announced last week, just one day after their 10th anniversary, that they are planning to divorce.
While Garner and Affleck themselves have not spoken out about what led to their breakup, sources close to them have put out dueling narratives about the breakdown of their marriage. The actress’ camp is quick to point out Affleck’s penchant for gambling and boozing. But there’s also a question of infidelity.
Us Weekly flat-out claims Affleck “admitted to cheating” within the last year, though a Garner friend more vaguely tells People that Affleck recently “told her he had not been committed to the marriage within the past few years.” Meanwhile, Affleck sources are adamant there was no indiscretions involved whatsoever.
Garner, though, is said to have decided she finally reached her limit after years spent working to strengthen the marriage. But others insist Affleck wanted out, too. As one source explains to People, “Saying he’s a bad father and a husband is an easy story, and everyone has wanted to clock him as a womanizer and gambler. He couldn’t deal with her expectations. When you’re told you’re not good enough, you start to believe it.”
Regardless, Garner and Affleck remain committed to co-parenting their three children, as Gossip Cop has reported. The family returned earlier his week from a trip to the Bahamas, and Affleck traveled to Atlanta on Tuesday to join Garner and their kids as she films a new movie.
