BOYNTON BEACH – It’s about a sending a message to the entire country, about respect for life.
New York Rabbi Josef Raksin was shot and killed in August 2014, while on his way to a Synagogue. He was visiting family in North Miami Beach.
In his memory, his family created “America’s Torah.
Zalman Goldstein, a family member had this to say.
“We are not going to be held down by the negative. We realize fighting darkness is not with a stick but rather with a candle,” said Goldstein.
Over the next two years, a special RV will travel across the United States with a Torah, scribe writing a new Torah scroll in the Rabbi’s memory.
The journey will end with a completed Torah scroll in Washington D.C., and a message to the entire country Goldstein believes is necessary.
“What’s going on in Baltimore, what’s going on in these places, we want to bring back the roots of the American,” said Goldstein.
As of today’s date there has still been no arrests for the murder of the Rabbi.
And as for the tour, they expect to be in Washington D.c. by June 2017.
