NYPD officers are on the hunt for a man who they believe is responsible for at least eight break-ins in the last three weeks, within the Midwood section of Brooklyn, leaving residents in fear if their home will be next.
According to police, all eight homes where burglarized between 12 a.m. and 7 a.m. The suspect entered through a window each time and stole electronics, jewelry and cash. They speculate it is the same perpetrator for each incident.
The first instance occurred on Wednesday, March 25, at East 19th Street and Avenue R. The second was on Saturday, March 28, at East 26th Street Avenue P.
The third was at West 7th Street and Lake Place and the fourth took place on Tuesday, March 31, at East 23rd Street and Avenue P. Continuing with the burglary spree on Avenue P, the fifth incident happened on Tuesday, March 31, at East 23rd Street.
Leading into April, three more crimes continued at Crawford Avenue and East 7th Street, all with the offender’s main point of entry being the window.
During the culprit’s last burglary, he was caught on surveillance video, leaving police hopeful that it could lead to an arrest.
NYPD 61 Precinct and Flatbush Shomrim increased patrol in the area and are urging anyone with information in regards to these events to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or Flatbush Shomrim at (718) 338-9797.
