Rabbi Meir Mazuz, head of the Kiseh Rahamim Yeshiva and a leader of Sephardic Jews of North African origin, has issued a note strengthening Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s hand in dealing with serious security issues, such as Iran’s attempts to achieve nuclear weapons.
In a letter, Rabbi Mazuz, who is also the spiritual leader of Eli Yishai’s Yahad party, congratulated Netanyahu for his speech to Congress on the dangers of Iran, and gave him a blessing that he have the strength and ability to continue his difficult work.
“Congratulations on your speech before Congress and your strong stance against all of our enemies, abroad and at home,” Rabbi Mazuz said in the letter. “The merit of the Land of Israel and the Jewish people will stand in your merit forever.
“May G-d provide you with a happy Purim, and may all the Jewish people experience light, happiness, joy and honor,” Rabbi Mazuz said, echoing the words of the Scroll of Esther, which will be read in synagogues around Israel and around the world Wednesday night, as Jews celebrate the holiday of Purim.
“We strengthen your hand and give you our blessing that you should rise and do well in the coming elections, and that all haters of Israel will fall, as we rise,” the letter added.
