PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh man is awaiting a preliminary hearing next month after he was accused of stealing from the Jewish Association on Aging in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood.
The Jewish Association on Aging is a care and living facility for Jewish senior citizens.
Marc Peagler, 31, is the former facilities manager at the facility on Weinberg Terrace and, according to police, is accused of stealing money from the JAA between August of 2019 and May of 2022.
Police said Peagler made checks out to a third party company for maintenance work to be done in the building but was instead sending those checks to himself, allegedly adding up to more than $50,000.
Investigators said Peagler had the authority to hire third parties to conduct maintenance work and the ability to approve payments to third parties.
Police said he presented several invoices to the JAA for work that was claimed to be conducted by a third party even though no work was done.
Peagler faces dozens of counts of forgery as well as charges of theft by unlawful taking, theft by reception, receiving stolen property and other offenses.
