Borough Park, NY – Authorities have released the names of the couple who lost their lives in an early morning fire that raced through their Borough Park home.
61 year old Chaim Gluck and his 59 year old wife Faigy died in the fast moving fire that ravaged their 44th Street duplex on 11th Ave.
Their 19 year old daughter, who was rescued from a fire escape by firefighters, suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to Maimonides Hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
A three-alarm blaze on 44th Street, near 12th Avenue, was reported at 3:47 a.m., police said.
A man, 61, woman, 59, and their daughter were transported to the hospital, according to fire crews on scene.
Both parents were later pronounced dead, fire crews said.
Their 19-year-old daughter who was taken to Maimonides Medical Center remains hospitalized, police said.
Firefighters said when they got the call, the fire had already been burning for some time, making it difficult for them to fight.
“There was a large body of fire when our unit first came in on the first floor and the second floor going up the stairwell and the interior stairs,” FDNY Deputy Chief Russ Regan said. “It was a very fast-moving fire.”
A firefighter was also transported to the hospital, video of the scene showed. He was sitting up and appeared alert as he was transported to an ambulance on a gurney.
The Levaya will be held on Monday afternoon at 2:30PM Shomrei Hadas Chapels in Borough Park.
