An Israeli man was reportedly found murdered outside a synagogue in the Ukrainian capital, local media reported Thursday.
The man was identified by local reports as Shachruch Tursunov, a 29-year-old from Jerusalem.
Authorities in the Ukrainian capital have detained a suspect believed to have fatally shot the man outside the Kiev synagogue while allegedly trying to steal his car, the police said Thursday.
The incident happened around midnight outside the Brodsky Synagogue in central Kiev.
Police said the victim was a foreigner and local news outlet Strana.ua also reported that the victim was an Israeli citizen.
The victim was found dead with multiple bullet wounds at the scene of the carjacking, police said in a statement.
Authorities were able to locate the vehicle within hours and detained the suspect, who was inside, police said.
The suspect could face up to 15 years in prison for murder.
