A woman with a stroller was attacked by a man with a large knife, Tabloid Ilta-Sanomat reported.
“It was really horrible,” Kent Svensson of Sweden told CNN. “We were sitting on a terrace just next to the square and this woman just screamed like hell and this guy was standing in front of her with a huge knife just stabbing people.

City cops are urging people to avoid the Puutori-Market Square area, where the stabbings took place.Security has been heightened at Helsinki’s international airport, according to Finnish TV station MTV.
“Police have told us not to go to the city center so we are in this coffee shop a few blocks away from the city center,” said Vanessa Deggins, an American who is studying business in Turku.
“This is a safe country by American standards. I have gone home alone at 2-3 a.m. … I feel safe. This is a safe country.”

Prime Minister Juha Sipila said the government was closely monitoring the situation and will hold an emergency meeting later Friday.
