President Trump’s lawyer plans to file a complaint about ousted FBI director James Comey’s leaked memos to the media via a close friend about his discussions with the president, according to a report.
It was unclear when the attorney, Marc Kasowitz, will file the complaint with the Department of Justice’s Inspector General’s Office and the Senate Judiciary Committee, Fox News reported.
Kasowitz is zeroing in on Comey’s testimony before the Senate intelligence committee in which he said he decided to ask Columbia law school Professor Daniel Richman to leak contents of his memos detailing talks with Trump.
Comey said he hoped the leak would prompt the appointment of a special counsel to probe Russian meddling in the election.
Richman, a close friend of Comey, has confirmed he leaked contents of one of Comey’s memos to The New York Times.
During his testimony, Comey accused the Trump administration of “spreading lies, plain and simple” about him and the FBI in the aftermath of his abrupt firing last month.
