A top Secret Service official quit Monday only a week after a new boss was put in charge of the troubled agency.
Chief Kevin Simpson of the Secret Service Uniformed Division was lauded in a statement released by the agency.
“For nearly three decades, Kevin Simpson was a dedicated professional who served with honor and integrity.
His void will be felt by the men and women of the Secret Service with whom he served with unwavering commitment,” the new director of the Secret Service, Randolph “Tex” Alles, said in the statement.
Simpson joined the Secret Service in 1988 and his retirement will take effect on May 31, according to the statement.
His resignation came after a bad few weeks for the Secret Service.
Two officers were canned in April over a security breach at the White House.
Another agent — assigned to Vice President Pence’s detail — was suspended after meeting with a hooker at a Maryland hotel.
The agent had to surrender his equipment and was placed on administrative leave.
