A laptop computer containing floor plans for Trump Tower, information about the Hillary Clinton email investigation and other national security information was stolen from a Secret Service agent’s vehicle in Brooklyn.
Authorities have been frantically searching for the laptop since it was stolen Thursday morning.
The thief stepped out of a car, possibly an Uber, on a street in Bath Beach and stole the laptop from the agent’s vehicle, which was parked in the driveway of her home.
The agent reported the laptop contained floor plans for Trump Tower, evacuation protocols and information regarding the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server.
The agent also told investigators that while nothing about the White House or foreign leaders is stored on the laptop, the information on there could compromise national security.
The thief also took “sensitive” documents and the agent’s access keycard, though the level of the agent’s access wasn’t immediately clear.
NYPD cops were assisting in the investigation but had scant information on what’s on the laptop, sources said.
Cops are scrambling to find a laptop — containing the floor plans for Trump Tower, details about the Hillary Clinton email probe and a slew of other sensitive information that could compromise national security — that was swiped from a Secret Service agent’s motorcycle in Brooklyn, police sources said.
The portable computer was stolen from the bike Thursday morning as it sat in the driveway of the agent’s Bath Beach home, the sources told The Post.
Several coins and a black bag with the Secret Service insignia on it, which were later recovered, were also stolen, in addition to the laptop — along with other sensitive documents, sources said.
The thief showed up to the agent’s home in a separate car, walked right up to her motorcycle and took the items. He was then caught on video fleeing the scene.
The agent told investigators that the laptop held sensitive information about national security, the floor plans for Trump Tower, evacuation protocols and details about the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s private email server.
While none of the info pertains to White House officials or foreign leaders, she said it could ultimately compromise national security.
The person who took the laptop also swiped the agent’s access keycard, sources said.
On Friday officials confirmed a laptop computer containing sensitive information on Hillary Clinton and US President Donald Trump was stolen from a female Secret Service agent’s car in Brooklyn on Thursday morning.
The car was parked in the Bath Beach section near her home.
According to The New York Post, the laptop was taken from the agent’s motorcycle – not car – and the agent was identified as Marie Argentieri.
In addition to the laptop, the thief stole a black Secret Service bag and coins, which have been recovered.
The laptop, which contained information about Trump Tower and other protected locations, was encrypted and information cannot be accessed by unauthorized individuals.
According to CBS2, the laptop also contained information connected to the email investigation on Hillary Clinton. They also said the thief took lapel pins connected the Clinton campaign, the Pope, and the United Nations General Assembly.
No arrests have been made, but investigators have recovered the surveillance video and are studying it.
The US Secret Service on Friday said, “The U.S. Secret Service can confirm that an employee was the victim of a criminal act in which our Agency issued laptop computer was stolen. Secret Service issued laptops contain multiple layers of security including full disk encryption and are not permitted to contain classified information.
“An investigation is ongoing and the Secret Service is withholding additional comment until the facts are gathered.
“The Secret Service requests anyone with information regarding this crime to please contact the New York Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service New York Field Office.”
