After being hospitalized on Saturday for breathing difficulties, Lithuanian-haredi leader Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman’s condition has deteriorated after improving slightly upon admission to the hospital.
Rabbi Shteinman, 103, is currently being treated in the ICU of Bnei Brak’s Maayanei Hayeshua Hospital.
“His condition has slightly deteriorated, and he’s still having difficulty breathing,” said a source close to Rabbi Shteinman. “There’s been no significant improvement, the situation isn’t good.”
However, hospital staff denied any deterioration of Rabbi Shteinman’s condition.
According to Kikar News, if Rabbi Shteinman’s situation does not improve in the coming hours, the hospital staff will weigh a change of protocol.
Rabbi Shteinman was hospitalized for pneumonia complications in December, and released after a week.
