Wix.com, the Tel Aviv-based do-it-yourself website development company, on Wednesday said it would once again broadcast a commercial during the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 7.
The 30-second spot, which will be broadcast in the fourth quarter of the NFL final, will be part of a campaign Wix will launch using YouTube Live and Facebook Live, the company said.
The campaign will showcase a series of shorts featuring Israeli actress and model Gal Gadot, who plays the title role in the not-yet-released 2017 film “Wonder Woman,” and her “The Fast and the Furious” colleague English actor Jason Statham.
One of the shorts produced will be the 30-second commercial that will be broadcast during the Super Bowl, Wix said.
The first of the videos was released by Wix on Wednesday, and additional videos will be released in the coming weeks until February 5. The commercial released on Wednesday shows Gadot and Statham fighting enemies in a restaurant while the young chef, unaware, is busy working on his Wix-created website.
“To succeed in a disruptive world, Wix makes it easy to create your own stunning website,” the final message says.
A global digital campaign will be launched at the same time, the company said, with the multi-channel campaign run by French film director Louis Leterrier, whose films include the first two “Transporter” films and “The Incredible Hulk.”
This is the third consecutive year that Wix has invested in a Super Bowl ad. Last year the commercial was part of the company’s #StartStunning campaign and was developed in collaboration with DreamWorks.
It featured characters from DreamWorks Animation’s “Kung Fu Panda 3” wondering how to promote Mr. Ping’s Noodle Shop and opting to start with a Wix website.
“We are very excited by the fact that we are telling our story by ourselves and by the fact that this is the first time in the industry that a Super Bowl campaign will be launched live,” said Wix.com’s CMO Omer Shai. “The Super Bowl is an incredible platform to showcase our talents.”
Wix.com is a cloud-based web development platform with over 98 million registered users worldwide. Wix’s headquarters are in Tel Aviv, with offices also in San Francisco, New York, Miami, Vilnius and Dnepropetrovsk.
