About 2,400 pounds of marijuana was seized off an abandoned boat at San Clemente State Beach this week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said.
California State Park rangers responded to a report of a 25-foot boat that was washing ashore about 3 p.m. Monday.
Rangers and border patrol agents pulled the boat in and discovered several large bags that contained 82 cellophane-wrapped bundles of marijuana, officials said.
The estimated value of the marijuana is estimated at $1.2 million.
No people were found on the boat and no further details were available.
