Detectives arrested an off-duty NYPD auxiliary cop they said molested at least two women — one as he taught a class on ways to tackle stress for a private security firm, officials said Friday.
Aaron Weiss, 31, is facing multiple forcible touching and sex abuse counts for groping two women on two separate occasions at Epic Security Corp. on Broadway near W. 71st St., where the classes were held.
Police said after teaching a CPR training course on Aug. 11, he asked a 21-year-old student to stay after class.
After the other students left, he shoved the student against a desk and groped her, police said.
While teaching a security certification class at Epic Security to a group of five students on Oct. 6, he began to talk about ways to handle stress and asked a 25-year-old woman to come to the front of the classroom.
When she did so, he massaged her shoulders as he instructed the class about massage techniques.
Then, when the woman’s back was to the class, he grabbed her breasts while the students looked on, cops were told.
Weiss was arrested Thursday and ordered released without bail during a brief arraignment Friday morning.
He became a member of the NYPD’s volunteer auxiliary police in 2014 and was assigned to a traffic task force, where he redirected traffic for parades and street fairs, officials said.
He has been barred from volunteering pending the outcome of the case, NYPD officials said.
Epic Security Corp. President Mark Lerner said that Weiss had been part of the company for “less than a year.”
Weiss was suspended upon his arrest, he said.
“Epic Security Corp. does not tolerate this type of sexual misconduct within the school or with its employees,” Lerner said. “We’ve been in business for 40 years and we’ve never had something like this happen before.”
