Israeli police detained a former National Security Council official for questioning Tuesday morning, under suspicion of crimes relating to bribery, money laundering, fraud and breach of trust.
A female suspected of involvement in the matter was also detained on Tuesday.
According to police, the former official is suspected of using his position to promote the personal business interests of an individual close to him who lives outside of Israel in exchange for financial compensation.
Police officers also searched the homes and offices of the two suspects.
