Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams received a letter containing death threats against him over the weekend, police sources said.
The note-writer threatened that Adams would be assassinated “very soon, maybe as early as this week,” sources said.
The typewritten missive warned that the assassins are “not amateurs” and are “well-trained” and “sophisticated.” The author ominously wrote that Adams will get a call soon.
The letter arrived sometime between Friday and Sunday. The NYPD Intelligence Division & Counter-Terrorism Bureau is investigating, the sources said.
Adams has been borough president for three years. Previously, he was a Democratic state Ssenator, representing Brownsville, Crown Heights, Flatbush, Park Slope, Prospect Heights, and Sunset Park.
He was also a New York City police officer for 22 years and co-founded 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care, which advocated for black police officers.
