No one keeps the president of the United States waiting. Except an ex-president.
Barack Obama was anxious to jet back home after speaking at the funeral of former Israeli President Shimon Peres on Friday. There was just one problem: Bill Clinton wouldn’t get on the plane.
“Let’s go!” Obama shouted to Clinton from the threshold of the airplane door.
Visibly antsy, Obama retreated back into the plane, but still motioned Clinton to get aboard.
Obama even walked out onto the stairway steps to shout “Bill!,” according to video captured by Sky News. “Let’s go, I’ll take you home!”
Clinton at the time was chatting with Secretary of State John Kerry on the tarmac.
Finally, Clinton joined Obama, wrapped his arm around the current president, and as they patted each other’s backs, both entered Air Force One.
The two presidents both spoke at Peres’ funeral.
“Bill!” Who can keep a President waiting? Why, another President of course @BarackObama @billclinton @POTUS https://t.co/rPlvoI87xQ
