A drunken woman wearing only her underwear fell to her death from a Midtown roof ledge Sunday morning, authorities said.
Elena Gladkikh, 27, was sitting with her legs dangling over the ledge when she plummeted five stories from her apartment building on West 37th Street near Tenth Avenue around8:30 a.m., officials said.
Gladkikh, beauty consultant for Mary Kay cosmetics, landed on the pavement in a narrow alley between two buildings, they said.
Gladkikh’s husband was heartbroken over her death, he said Sunday. “This is a bad time.
My family is here and we’re contacting her family overseas,”.
James Proctor, a porter at a nearby building, spotted the grisly scene.
“Her whole body was swollen, there were bruises on her thigh, her stomach was bloated,” Proctor said. “She had no clothing on, just a brassiere and panties.”
He had no idea what was going on until a firefighter asked to borrow his ladder.
“Their ladder was jammed on their truck. They said someone was trapped somewhere,” he said.
Rescuers emerged from the alley a few minutes later with the red-haired woman’s bruised body strapped to a stretcher while an EMT attempted to administer CPR.
“Her whole body was swollen, there were bruises on her thigh, her stomach was bloated,” Proctor said. “She had no clothing on, just a brassiere and panties.”
Proctor said he saw police officers talking to a man in his 20s who appeared to know the woman.
“He looked destroyed,” he said. “You could see the sadness in his face.”
The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where she later died.
Police said there were no immediate signs of criminality.
It was unclear Sunday if anyone was on the roof with her when she fell, cops said.
