This is the final photo of jogger Karina Vetrano, taken just before she was beaten and strangled in a Queens park.
The picture — discovered after police reviewed 200 surveillance videos from the area following her gruesome murder shows the 30-year-old Queens woman apparently listening to music through earbuds, focused on her run into Spring Creek Park in Howard Beach on the fateful day, Aug. 2.
It was taken at 5:46 p.m. minutes before authorities believe she was attacked and about five hours before her brutalized body would be found in the park.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce told the TV show “Crime Watch Daily,’’ which obtained the photo, that the image is painful to see.
“She was punched in the teeth,” he said. “She also had bruising on her body, we believe from being dragged through those woods.”
Boyce said the killer ambushed Vetrano and dragged her into the marshes to sexually assault her before murdering her.
“She had stems of weeds in her hands. She fought not to go into those weeds,” Boyce said.
Boyce noted that the three elements of DNA recovered from her body which cleared family members and an ex-boyfriend have been run through state and national databases, but no hits have come up.
Vetrano’s body was discovered at 10:30 that night by her dad, Philip, a retired firefighter and 9/11 first responder.
He has been vocal in his frustration that his daughter’s killer remains on the loose.
Philip Vetrano, along with other members of the Howard Beach community, started a GoFundMe page on Aug. 7 to raise money to supplement the $20,000 reward the NYPD is offering.
Nearly $300,000 has been pledged so far.
“Please,” Philip Vetrano wrote on the page, after pledging $11 himself Sunday. “If money talks, let’s make it impossible for someone to keep their mouth shut.”
The “Crime Watch Daily” segment, hosted by Chris Hansen, will air on WPIX TV on Monday at 1 p.m.
