The former Stanford swimmer, who got a wrist-slap punishment for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman, registered himself as a sex offender Tuesday in Ohio.
A little before 9 a.m. local time, Brock Turner arrived at the Greene County Sheriff’s Office to formally declare himself as a sex offender, the Dayton Daily News reported.
The 21-year-old Ohio native listed his home address as 1232 Ravelle Court in Bellbrook, Ohio, according to Ohio’s database of sex offenders.
Turner was convicted in California earlier this year on three felony counts stemming from his January 2015 attack at Stanford assault with intent to commit rape, sexual penetration of an unconscious person and penetration of an intoxicated person.
He faced up to 14 years behind bars and Santa Clara County prosecutors sought six years.
The crime became a huge national headline after Judge Aaron Persky a Stanford alum said six years would have an unfairly “severe impact” on Turner and gave him just six months behind bars.
Turner got out jail on Friday on good behavior after doing just three months.
Persky is now the target of a recall effort, and he’s removed himself from sex-assault cases.
Had Turner remained in California, he would have had to register as a sex offender for life.
Ohio law calls for sex offenders to register for at least 15 years after release.
