Monsey, NY – An officer with the Ramapo Police Department was sent to a local hospital yesterday after being rear-ended by a woman who was reading an article on her cell phone while driving.
The incident took place on Tuesday on Forshay Road.
The unidentified police officer was stopped in traffic when his car was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by a 30 year old Monsey resident.
He sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern by Ramapo Valley Ambulance.
The woman told a police officer investigating the incident that she was reading an article on her phone when the accident occurred.
She was ticketed for following too closely and for use of a portable electronic device while operating a vehicle.
