NYPD officers saved a man who was stranded in the waters off New Jersey Thursday – and part of the dramatic rescue was captured on video.
Two helicopters from the aviation unit were dispatched to Raritan Bay, near Keansburg, N.J., about 5 p.m. to search for a 21-year-old jet skier who fell from off the watercraft.
Within minutes of arriving at the scene, which is just south of Staten Island, one of the choppers spotted the man in the water, police said.

Two divers then descended into the bay to assess the condition of the man, as a helicopter hovered 10 feet overhead.
The rescue basket was lowered, and video footage captured the tense moments the divers assisted the victim into the container and up to safety.
After everyone was back aboard the aircraft, the victim was flown to Staten Island University North Hospital for observation. His identity wasn’t released.
