A meteorologist for a New Haven, Conn., TV station was arrested on child pornography charges Wednesday.
Investigators seized computer files containing kiddie porn at the home of Justin Goldstein, 33, in nearby Hamden when they searched it on a warrant, officials with the state police told the New Haven Register.
The investigators from the state police, the FBI and the Hamden Police Department said they began tracking Goldstein after they noticed an account linked to him downloaded child porn videos last month.
The weatherman now faces charges of first-degree possession of child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance. He posted a $200,000 bond ahead of his scheduled court date July 26.
Goldstein’s employer, WTNH-TV, reported the arrest in a story on its own website.
“We are deeply concerned by the allegations,” General Manager Mark Higgins said in a statement. “Until the matter is resolved, Justin Goldstein is suspended from his duties at WTNH.”
Facebook users posted about the arrest on Goldstein’s professional Facebook page as the news broke Wednesday afternoon.
“These families enjoyed watching you (no one would actually admit it now) only to betray them,” one user wrote. “The jail house you’ll be headed to will be relentless on you-absolutely relentless. Rightfully so too.”
