ALBANY, N.Y. – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo nominates Lieutenant Colonel George Beach to serve as Superintendent of the New York State Police.
The search committee, established by the governor in April, also unanimously recommended Lt. Colonel Beach to serve as the next Superintendent.
Lt. Colonel Beach will replace Joseph D’Amico who has served as superintendent of New York State Police since 2011. D’Amico announced he was retiring in April.
“Lt. Colonel Beach is supremely qualified to serve as superintendent of the New York State Police,” Governor Cuomo said. “I congratulate Lt. Colonel Beach on his nomination, and I look forward to working together to protect and serve the people of New York State.”
Lieutenant Colonel Beach is an experienced law enforcement professional with more than 30 years of expertise in crisis response, operational planning, emergency management and public policy.
