Detroit, MI – A woman who was caught on camera opening fire on a driver at a gas station on Detroit’s west side is in custody, police said. Police had been looking for her after the shooting early Sunday morning at the Mobil station at 15510 Fenkell.
Video from the gas station shows the woman with three other people in a Dodge Charger at the gas station just after 4 a.m. when a green Pontiac Grand Prix pulls in.
Police said a verbal fight broke out between the woman and her friends and a group who were in the Grand Prix. The woman can be seen on the video going to the Charger and retrieving a semi-automatic handgun from the glove box, police said.
In the video, the woman’s friends try to hold her back, but she rushes to the Grand Prix and starts shooting — hitting the driver several times, police said.
During the shooting, the Grand Prix jolted forward, hitting one of the men the suspect was with, police said.
Police said one of the men who was in the Grand Prix was able to wrestle the gun away from the woman and both vehicles left the area. However, the occupants of the Grand Prix took their friend to the hospital and returned to the gas station to turn the gun over to officers. The victim, who was struck by several bullets, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
