BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn – The Brooklyn District Attorney has dismissed rape charges against five young men in Brownsville.
The young woman recanted her allegations of forced sexual assault and the existence of a gun during the alleged incident at Osborn Playground.
“She does not wish to pursue criminal charges against any of the defendants,” said Ken Thompson, Brooklyn District Attorney in a statement.
The young woman also, according to Thompson, “refuses to cooperate with any prosecution against her father who was engaging in sexual conduct with her”.
He added that there was a lack of reliable evidence, and that criminal charges could not be sustained.
“It is my fervent hope that this young woman gets all the support that she needs going forward. My office, including our victim advocates who have been working with this young woman, stand ready to provide her with any assistance she may need,” Thompson said.
