Pop goddess and avant-garde performance artist Sia is coming to perform in Israel for one special show on August 9, 2016 at Rishon Lezion’s Live Park.
Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, better known mononymously as Sia, became wildly popular in 2014 with her smash hit “Chandelier,” leading to multiple nominations at the 57th Grammy awards including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Music Video.
Before becoming an international sensation, the Australian born singer was active in the music industry for almost two decades, writing and producing music for artists such as Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Maroon 5 and Britney Spears.
In yet another blow to the BDS movement seeking to stir up an international boycott of the Jewish state, the international singer-songwriter phenomenon Sia announced on Tuesday she will be performing in Israel this August.
The Australian pop star announced on Facebook she will be playing at Rishon Lezion’s Live Park on August 11. The tickets went on sale starting today on her tour site, and start at 299 shekels going up to 799 shekels.
Sia’s announcement further caps a string of top pop stars performing in Israel this summer, as Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez are both to perform at Tel Aviv’s Park Hayarkon. Beyonce, like Sia, is to perform in early August.
The world famous DJ Avicii, whose real name is Tim Bergling, is also to perform in Israel on July 22 at Live Park.
Sia, whose full name is Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, often covers her face with a mask or a wig during performances, choosing to avoid the over-fascination in the media with the looks of celebrities.
She was active as a song writer in the music industry for roughly 20 years before she broke it big and became world famous. She has written for Madonna, Britney Spears, Celine Dion and Rihanna, and wrote Rihanna’s hit song “Diamonds.”
The Australian superstar truly made a name for herself with her song “Chandelier” in March 2014, which became a smash hit. The YouTube music video of the song has already racked up more than 1.1 billion views.
The song was part of her majorly successful album 1000 Forms of Fear, which was her sixth album. Sia just released her seventh album entitled This is Acting, which she co-wrote with the chart-topping famous singer Adele.
