Two Israeli soldiers in their twenties were injured in a stabbing attack Sunday afternoon at the Huwara checkpoint, south of Shechem in Samaria.
Reports indicate the Arab terrorist approached a gas station near the checkpoint and stabbed the two Israelis.
Security forces shot and eliminated the terrorist at the scene.
One of the soldiers suffered moderate stab wounds to his limbs, while the other was lightly wounded with a head injury. Both were fully conscious when medics arrived.
The soldiers received medical treatment at the scene before being evacuated to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.
Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan condemned the attack, noting it “occurred in the center of Huwara, on a road we have been warning about for 20 years, and for which we requested a bypass road to service residents and allow them a separation of roads.”
“There is no reason to continue the policies [manipulated] by the European voice in place of [those in service] of the security of residents of Israel,” Dagan added. “I strengthen in this hour the IDF soldiers who protect our country tirelessly.”
Early Sunday morning an Israeli soldier was lightly injured in a stabbing attack near the Central Bus Station in Jerusalem.
Three terror stabbings were also thwarted by alert security forces on Sunday – two in quick succession in Ma’ale Shomron and Hevron, and later one in Jerusalem’s Old City.
