ALBANY, N.Y. — A new poll shows many New Yorkers are concerned about another terrorist attack in the near future, though most haven’t changed their lifestyles as a consequence.
The Siena College poll released Monday shows most have been following the recent terrorist attacks around the world. Sixty percent say they’re very concerned, while 63 percent say they’re not changing their activities at all by avoiding traveling or public places.
Another 20 percent say they have.
A majority of those surveyed, 52 percent, oppose allowing refugees from war-torn Syria into the U.S. now, while 39 percent support letting them come.
In an interview police Commissioner Bill Bratton said New Yorkers and visitors should feel safe.
“We are in a position to certainly tell people in New York City or those who would visit, you do not have to be fearful in New York City,” Bratton said.
The poll of 822 registered voters was conducted from last Tuesday through Saturday. It has a margin of error of four percentage points.
