NYPD cops fatally shot a robbery suspect on the Saw Mill Parkway following a high-speed chase Tuesday that ended with the suspects’ car crashing after they drove the wrong way on the busy road, officials said.
The silver Nissan being pursued crashed into another car near the McLean Avenue exit on the parkway’s northbound lanes around 12:15 p.m., authorities said.
One of the suspects was captured at the car while the other took off on foot into neighboring Tibbetts Brook Park, Yonkers cops said.
That armed suspect was shot in the chest and killed by a pursuing NYPD officer, Yonkers officials said.
The two NYPD officers involved in the chase are from the 50th Precinct station house, one a three-year veteran and the other on the job for five years.
The high-speed chase started near Broadway and 242nd Street in Riverdale at 12:04 p.m., officials said.
