An Arab terrorist conducted a stabbing attack on Thursday evening at the Damascus Gate of Jerusalem’s Old City, leaving an officer moderately wounded.
The terrorist was eliminated at the scene by Border Police officers.
Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical crews were dispatched to the scene to provide treatment to the officer who is around 35-years-old, before evacuating him to Shaare Tzedek Hospital for further care.
MDA paramedic Zaki Yahav who treated the victim, said, “when we arrived on the scene we saw a man aged around 35 lying on the ground fully conscious.”
“He suffered wounds to his limbs and we evacuated him to Shaare Tzedek Hospital while providing medical treatment including stopping the bleeding, providing fluids and medicine against the pain,” said the medic.
Yahav noted the victim was in moderate and stable condition, and “throughout the ride he spoke and communicated with us.”
The attack is the second to take place in the area of the capital on Thursday.
Earlier a Palestinian Authority (PA) intelligence officer shot two Israelis, leaving one seriously wounded and the other lightly wounded, before being shot dead by IDF soldiers.
The attack took place at Hizme checkpoint just north of Jerusalem, which is the major artery into Jerusalem from Samaria.
