Israeli software provider Nice Systems said Wednesday it had won what it termed an “eight-figure contract” to provide New York City with state-of-the-art public safety call recording and incident management technology for its 911 emergency hotline.
The site, which is scheduled to open in June of next year, will be jointly operated by the New York City police and fire departments. It will augment and provide redundancy to their current emergency 911 response services, the company said.
Nice has been providing similar technology to the city since 2001.
“This new contract is notable not only for its scope and size, but because it underscores Nice’s successful track record with the New York City Police Department and the Fire Department of New York,” said Chris Wooten, executive vice president of Nice’s Security Group.
Shares of Nice Systems closed 3.1% higher on Wednesday, at 255.30 shekels ($66.89), on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange.
