LAREDO – A US Customs and Border Patrol helicopter had to make an emergency landing on Friday after being hit by several rounds of ammunition.
The FBI tells us that during an operational flight near the Rio Grande River in Laredo, the helicopter was struck several times by ground fire.
The rounds did go through the aircraft and cause significant damage and forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing.
We are told the pilot was not hurt.
Many different state and federal authorities are investigating the case.
It is unclear if anyone has been detained for the incident, but the FBI asks that anyone that may have information about the shooting to call them at 281-225-6741.
