The Lindsey Vonn-Tiger Woods relationship that began about three years ago has ended, with each athlete citing their hectic schedules as a contributing factor.
The Olympic skier announced the couple’s decision, saying it was mutual, on Facebook.
After nearly three years together, Tiger and I have mutually decided to end our relationship.
I will always cherish the memories that we’ve created together. Unfortunately, we both lead incredibly hectic lives that force us to spend a majority of our time apart.
I will always admire and respect Tiger. He and his beautiful family will always hold a special place in my heart.
Woods posted a similar statement on his website, writing that the two had “mutually decided to stop dating.”
“I have great admiration, respect and love for Lindsey and I’ll always cherish our time together. She has been amazing with Sam and Charlie and my entire family.
“Unfortunately, we lead very hectic lives and are both competing in demanding sports. It’s difficult to spend time together.”
The two announced in March 2013 that they were dating and have become increasingly serious, with Vonn developing a good relationship with Woods’ children and his ex-wife.
It’s a relationship that has endured the multiple injuries and rehabs that each has had. Last month, Vonn spoke of how nice it was to have a partner to rehab with.
Although each has been a constant presence at the other’s competitions, Vonn confided to Seth Meyers a couple of weeks ago that she isn’t all that into golf.
Asked if she liked the sport she replied, “[super gigantic awkward-yet-funny pause] I love golf.”
Meyers pushed, noting that for a skier who’s “an adrenaline junkie,” it seems rather … slow.
“I just — I love golf.”
