Spring Valley, NY – Police have hit a dead end in the investigation of who sent Rockland County Legislature majority leader Aron Wieder (D-Spring Valley) a letter with his head superimposed on a beheading victim.
FBI tested for any signs of DNA and fingerprints, but came up empty, according to lohud.
With no DNA and no suspects, the investigation is currently suspended until new information surfaces.
Police have provided Wieder – legislature’s first Hasidic Jewish member and its current majority leader –and his wife and four children with security during the ordeal.
Wieder opened the letter in Dec. 14 during a legislature meeting. The photo shows a prisoner dressed in orange kneeling before a man in black, with a picture of Wieder’s head over the victim’s head. Wieder’s name is written in English below Arabic writing. An ISIS flag is seen in the background.
The postmark showed the letter went through the Monsey postal facility with the name “Moshe Muhammad” on the envelope.
Wieder served as vice president and president of the East Ramapo Board of Education from 2008 to 2010.
