A 61-year-old Monsey man suffered serious injuries Sunday night when he was struck by a car that sped away.
Ramapo police said Solomon Diamant was hit about 9:20 p.m. as he tried to cross Washington Avenue at Route 45.
Police said the driver in a gold, four-door sedan, possibly a late-model Toyota immediately fled, heading north on Route 45. Anyone with information is asked to call 845-357-2400.
Police said the car should have damage to the right front quarter panel and a missing passenger-side mirror.
Diamant suffered head, face and chest injuries, police said. He was taken by the Hatzolah Ambulance Corps to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. Police said the injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
Route 45 was closed for about three hours as an accident reconstruction team investigated.
