A 40-year-old Jewish man has died after he was struck by a vehicle Sunday night following a verbal dispute with an unknown male in the Forest Hills section of Queens, police said.
The victim, identified as Aron Aranbayev, and the unidentified man were involved in a verbal dispute over a parking spot just outside Aranbayev house, at 71st Avenue and 110th street, at around 11:10pm, when the suspect angrily hopped into his vehicle and struck Aranbayev, before fleeing the scene.
NYPD and EMS responded to the scene and found Aranbayev in an unconscious and unresponsive manner. He was transferred to Jamaica Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries Monday evening, police said.
Based on interviews conducted by detectives, it appears that the motorist backed into Aranbayev on purpose and then drove away without stopping, a police source added.
Police are currently reviewing nearby surveillance videos in an attempt to obtain more information on the vehicle that struck Aranbayev.
According to witnesses the car was a black Dodge Magnum, with very dark tinted windows, possibly driven by a black male.
Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS, or the 112 precinct detective squad at (718) 520-9250.
